We need to give hope

While driving home through the rain after spending the most perfect day laying out, swimming, kayaking, and eating at Wahoo Beach (Click here for my photos) with the team that’s here, i couldn’t help but be overcome with sadness as i looked around at all of the poverty and desperation surrounding us on all sides as we drove through the crowded streets.

Through this, i was reminded once again why i am here. to bring hope and joy to these people. to share about Christ. to give a cup of cold water to the thirsty. to clothe the naked. to give hope to the women who have been left by their husbands to care for their 5 children with no job and no food and no permanent place to live. to hold the neglected children in my arms and show them that they’re loved. to pray with the starving children. to show them that God is real. When all is said and done, this is all that matters.

While i was looking at these people on the side of the street, and looking at the trash and large dumps along the riverbank, i saw a woman in rags holding out her hand begging for money from the passerby’s. Now you have to understand, i see this all of the time, but there was something about this woman that really broke my heart, and all i wanted to do was stop and give her something to eat and show her that God cares for her. She looked so hopeless. It is my role, and everyone else’s role, to give these people hope! We need to be asking God to show us how to give this hope to those He places in our lives!

Along with this sadness and urgency to care for the people of haiti, i was also overcome with an incredible amount of joy that God has called me here to show these people His love! I couldn’t be more thankful!

  3. That is absolutely beautiful. You brought tears to my eyes. Your heart and passion and love for the Haitians moves God's heart. In light of the earthquake that has happened I know that you are in the right place. You are where God is able to use you to bring light and life to these people.

    I love you!!
